Cafe Assistant Manager, Full time Non-Exempt
The Cafe Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Café Manager in overseeing all Cafe operations associated with Museum catered events and in the Stars Café. This position assists in setting the example and ensuring the highest level of guest experience in the café and reports to the Cafe Manager.
Basic Function and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Ability to provide excellent guest service while working in a very fast-paced environment supervising café operations
Proper cash handling including deposit processing in adherence with Museum Accounting processes and procedures
Assist with reconciling financials with Accounting, vendors and service providers
Run daily reports, share as needed, and input that information into database
Responsible for balancing cash drawers
Support management in scheduling issues and or conflicts
Identify and assess appropriate steps to resolve adverse situations
Inventory control: Assess inventory and assist in preparing product orders as necessary
Stock and restock items as necessary
Train and/or retrain Café Staff as needed on all procedures and upselling
Copy, file, and /or prepare paperwork as needed
Insure all sanitation procedures are followed relating to all local licensing regulations
Support management in overseeing designated opening and closing procedures to ensure areas are secure, efficient, and clean
Basic Requirements and Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
Prior Café Management experience preferred including POS systems and purchasing
Must utilize excellent guest service skills to enhance the museum experience and meet the needs of museum guests with a positive attitude
Must be able to multi-task and be self-motivated
Must be able to communicate clearly and congenially with patrons about museum services, products, and programs
Possesses excellent cash handling skills and knowledge of daily sales reporting
Adherence to a uniform policy and grooming standards -must present a neat, professional appearance
Qualified candidate will be a mature, responsible, dependable individual who enjoys working in a fast paced environment
Must satisfactorily fulfill all departmental training requirements
Must obtain food handler’s license, TABC license a plus
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
Standing, stooping, and bending for long periods of time
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays and special events
